How do I download a copy of a transcript?

Did you know that you can download full transcripts of your Caption.Ed sessions? Here's an overview of the few ways you can do this, along with the different formats you can access.

In the browser extension

You can download the transcript of your current session by clicking the 'download' button in the bottom left corner of the live captioning bar.

All of the captions that have been generated so far during your session will be downloaded to your computer as a standard text file (.TXT).

In your Caption.Ed dashboard

Open your Caption.Ed dashboard homepage or library

You can download a session from the menu by selecting the "Download" icon to the right of your chosen session. You can download a session in the following formats:

  • Standard text file (.TXT)
  • VTT captions file (.VTT)
  • Word document (.DOCX)

In the transcript editor

If you have access to the transcript editor (How do I view transcripts and access the editing suite?), you'll have more format options to choose from when downloading a transcript.

From the transcript editor, click the "Export" button in the top right of the transcript editor screen to access a list of file export options. Select your chosen format and the file will begin downloading.

Here, you can download the session in the following formats:

  • Standard text file (.TXT)
  • Pre-segmented text file (.TXT)
  • Text file with timecodes (.TXT)
  • VTT captions file (.VTT)
  • Word document (.DOCX)
  • SRT captions file (.SRT)
  • TTML captions file (.TTML)
  • iTT captions file (.ITT)
  • CSV captions file (.CSV)
  • JSON captions file (.JSON)
  • Draft JSON file (.JSON)
  • Digital paper edit JSON file (.JSON)
