Windows App Not Detecting Audio During Video Calls?

Ok, so you're using the Caption.Ed Windows Desktop app, and it's either not picking up what you're saying or it's not picking up what other attendees on a video call are saying? If so then read on.

First, let's do a few checks

  1. Ensure you have a good internet connection. You can check your internet connection here.
  2. Make sure you're using the latest version of Caption.Ed. You can download the latest version at the bottom of
  3. Make sure you have credit on your account. You can see this on your dashboard here.
  4. Start the media and ensure it is unmuted.
  5. Open the app and press 'start'.
  6. You should see a captioning bar appear on the screen and text appearing.

Still not detecting audio?

We will need to make that sure your system sound settings are set up correctly. Please follow these steps: 

Step 1: Navigate to 'Change Sound Systems'.

You can find this by searching for it in the bottom left of your screen. 

Step 2: Select the 'Recording' tab and then select the microphone that you're using and click 'Properties'.

Step 3: Check the checkbox titled 'Listen to this device'.

Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

Step 4: Restart Caption.Ed and select 'Desktop' as the Audio Source.
