Captioning a virtual meeting (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

The new Caption.Ed desktop app can now capture your internal computer audio and your microphone audio at the same time. This makes it perfect for captioning and transcribing a virtual meeting. In this article, we'll show you how to set this up; we'll be using Zoom in this example, but it should work with any virtual meeting software (on Windows or Mac).

Step 1: Start a new session on your Caption.Ed desktop app.

Step 2: When the app asks you "Which audio would you like to record?" make sure to select "Computer + Mic". This will make sure that your default microphone and internal computer audio are both picked up by Caption.Ed.

Step 3: Once you're happy with everything, select "Start Session".

Step 4: Caption.Ed should now begin providing captions for all sides of your virtual meeting.

You may need to change the audio settings in your virtual meeting software. For example, In Zoom, make sure "Caption.Ed Device" is selected as the default audio input and output.
