How do use Caption.Ed for my online lectures?

Read on to find out how to use Caption.Ed to get captions for your online lectures.

On the Desktop application

Step 1: First, open your Caption.Ed Desktop App and start a new session.

Step 2: You will be asked 'Would you like to record your screen?'. Select Yes or No.

Step 3: You will then be asked 'Which audio would you like to record?', with options for 'Computer', 'Microphone', or 'Computer and Mic'. For an online lecture, select 'Computer'

Step 4: Select the language or subject matter of the session from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: Click 'Start Session'.

Step 6: While the captioning window loads up, open the lecture you want to caption and press play.

Step 7: Captions will begin to appear on the left half of the Caption.Ed app, and you can add time stamped notes on the right half.

Step 8: If you only want to view the captions, click the 'Workspace' icon and select 'Recordings Only' from the dropdown. Likewise, you can select 'Notes Only'.

Step 9: When you have completed your captioning session, click 'End Session' and then 'End Session and Upload'. You will be prompted to name your session. This can be a great way to keep your lecture notes organised!

Step 10: Your session will be then saved to your account alongside all your past sessions.

On the Browser Extension

Step 1: Install the Caption.Ed extension to your Chrome or Edge internet browser.

Step 2: Open your online lecture in your browser.

Step 3: During the lecture, open the Caption.Ed browser extension and click the "Play" icon to start the session.

Step 4: Once finished, your session will be then saved to your account alongside all your past sessions.
