How do I set a usage cap?

If you are an Institutional Administrator on an Institutional Caption.Ed license you have the ability to set usage caps on your users. There are two ways you can do this.

Set a cap for all users

You are able to set a usage cap for all users at your institution. For example, so that no individual user can user over 100 hours. To do this please follow the steps below: 

  1. First log in to your university dashboard here.
  2. Click on the 'institutional settings' tab in the menu down the left hand side of your dashboard.


       3. You will see an area where you can set a usage cap for all your users. This is a number of minutes. 



Set a cap when creating a user

You can set a usage cap for each individual user, as you create the user. Click here to learn how to create a new user, when creating a new user you will be asked to set a usage cap for this user. 

Set a cap for an existing user

If you've already created a user and wish to edit or add a usage cap, please follow the steps below: 

  1. First log in to your university dashboard here.
  2. Click the 'users' tab


      3. Find the user you wish apply the cap to, and click the edit button. 


      4. Enter a usage cap and click to update the user.
